Jindos require enough space
to run and exercise everyday. Jindos have high prey drive. It is
not recommended not to introduce Jindos to other dominant
animals since this behavior is only going to start dog fights.
Whenever you feel that your Jindos are out of control, it is
strongly advised to enroll them in obedience school at 6 months
old to avoid future liability. Due to the strength and potential
dog/prey aggressiveness of this medium-sized dog, a Jindo will
probably be better suited to a household without infants or
young children. A Jindo will shed profusely twice year (fur
falls out in clumps). Brushing will be required during those
times. Warm baths followed by a blow dry seems to speed up this
process. One should only
get a Jindo if one has a fenced yard at least 6 ft high. Since
Jindos are known as independent thinkers, they will never be
reliable off-leash. Make sure that they be kept on-leash
whenever out in public.

The Jindos specialize in
hunting deer, wild boars, rabbits, raccoons, and badgers. They love hunting and
vast open spaces to run and explore. The Jindos are said to recognize and
remember over 30,000 different scents. This is why the South Korean military
uses Jindos where they learn to recognize thousands of personnel at the military
base and to detect outsiders. |
